Family Hike and Swim Burr Pond State Park, Torrington CT 7.26.08

Great hike around the pond and swimming area. Wear swim suit under shorts and pack a towel. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Meet on Burr Mountain Road at the boat launch parking lot, about .2 miles past the entrance. Rain cancels.
Marsh Madness Mashamoquet State Park, Pomfret CT 7.26.08

Come get your feet wet on a walk to one of Connecticut's wetlands while learning about the importance of wetlands in nature. We will bring nets and buckets in hopes of collecting and identifying some of Pomfret's wetland fauna. The walk will take visitors through three quarters of a mile of fields and forests to animal filled wetlands. We will meet at the Wolf Den campground office parking lot. The hike will take approximately an hour and a half and be over mild terrain. Dress appropriately; bring sun block. No dogs please. This hike is recommended for people of all ages.
Tree Identification Hike Sessions Woods, Burlington, CT 7.27.08

Wildlife Division Educator Laura Rogers-Castro will lead a 2-mile hike on the tree identification trail at Sessions Woods to identify trees and discuss their wildlife value.
