Indian Well State Park

Lying on the west bank of the Housatonic River, Indian Well State Park features a long stretch of shoreline where visitors can swim, fish or enjoy a picnic. A shaded grove at the water’s edge as well as a pavilion overlooking the beach make for popular areas to spend lazy summer days. The park's namesake – a scenic waterfall and splash pool – can be found only a short walk from the road in the woods. Folklore surrounds this location, as a Native American legend tells of star-crossed lovers suffering a Romeo and Juliet-type fate at the falls. Trails throughout the woods entertain hikers and bikers, while spots along the river are designated for swimmers, anglers and boaters.
