Clue: Take a hike.

Note: The answer to this clue isn't a specific State Park or Forest, but might lead you to one.

This special weekend is put on by a group that is the oldest private nonprofit environmental organization in Connecticut.

This event is made possible by a group whose mission is to conserve the lands, trails and natural resources of Connecticut.

This program is the largest celebration of its kind in the nation with about 130 events that allow people to hike many miles of trails, among other activities.

Park #5 Revealed

Teams will need to select one of 13 hikes taking place on either Saturday, June 7 or Sunday, June 8. Hikes vary by date, time, geography, distance and skill level, so select one that best fits your interests and needs. Teams attending with at least one member 18 years of age or older and one team member under 18 will receive a stamped card that must be turned in by June 14 as proof of visitation. You must staple a copy of your team check-in pass with those who attended circled/highlighted/noted.

Clue: Robin Hood's stomping grounds surrounded by water?

Settlers farmed the land at this State Park in the 19th century, with onions and potatoes being the particularly abundant crops.

This was the first State Park in Connecticut, established in 1913.

This State Park features Connecticut's September 11 Living Memorial.

Clue and Hints for Park #3

Clue: Offers views that stretch for 1,200 square miles.

**Teams will need to take a specified photo including at least one team member 18 years of age or older and one team member under 18. Refer back here beginning May 23 for detailed instructions.**

This State Park is named for the man who commanded Connecticut troops against the Native Americans in King Philip's War.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower decided to run for President of the United States during a visit to a site at this State Park.

This State Park features the former hilltop summer home of a famous restaurateur and hotelier.

Park #3 Revealed

Teams will need to hike to Heublein Tower and take a photo of at least one team member 18 years of age or older and one team member under 18 in front of the structure. A copy will need to be turned in by June 14 as proof of visitation (can be on photo paper or a simple black and white printout from the computer). You must staple a copy of your team check-in pass with those who attended circled/highlighted/noted. Refer to the PARK MAP for details.

NOTE: The 1.25-mile hike features an unpaved, very steep ascent followed by a flat walk along a ridgeline to the tower. This is NOT a stroller-friendly hike.

For an easier and more level hike, teams may instead visit Penwood State Forest (located directly across Route 185) and head to the pavilion. Visitors can walk along a paved road leading to the pavilion that is relatively flat. Proof of visitation will be a photo of at least one team member 18 years of age or older and one team member under 18 in front of the structure. You must staple a copy of your team check-in pass with those who attended circled/highlighted/noted. Refer to the PARK MAP for details.

Clue: It's actually trout that reigns supreme.

One of this area's first settlers was the man said to have beheaded King Charles I in 1649.

Connecticut's longest State Park cuts through this State Forest.

This State Forest features one of Connecticut's prized covered bridges.

Park #2 Revealed

Teams will need to hike to the letterbox at this forest (a 20-minute hike one-way) and turn in a stamped piece of paper as proof of visitation by June 14.
